Privacy Policy

Syntax Palette (“the add-on”) is a tool that applies syntax highlighting to source code in Google Docs™ and Google Slides™. This policy explains how the add-on handles user information.
1. Information collected
The add-on collects no personal information whatsoever.
- It does not collect your name, email address or account information.
- It does not collect, store or log the contents of your documents.
- It does not collect usage history, analytics or statistics.
- It does not use cookies or any equivalent tracking technology.
2. Permissions requested, and why
The add-on requests the following OAuth scopes.
| Scope | Purpose |
|---|---|
documents.currentonly | Read the text of the Google Docs™ document you currently have open, and change its text colour, font and italics |
presentations.currentonly | Perform the same operation on the Google Slides™ presentation you currently have open |
script.container.ui | Display the add-on's sidebar and menu inside the editor |
The first two scopes are, as their names indicate, limited to the single file you currently have open. The add-on cannot reach any other file in your Google Drive™.
3. How information is processed
All processing runs in the Google Apps Script environment — that is, inside your own Google account.
- Document content is never transmitted to an external server.
- No third party, including the developer, can access your document content.
- The add-on makes no external network requests of any kind.
- The result of processing — the applied formatting — is written only to your own document.
4. Disclosure to third parties
Because the add-on collects no information, there is no information to share with or sell to third parties. It is not integrated with any advertising network or analytics service.
5. Retention and deletion
The add-on retains no data, so there is no data to delete. To remove the add-on, open Google Docs™ and go to Extensions → Add-ons → Manage add-ons. Formatting already applied to your documents remains unchanged after removal.
6. Google API Services User Data Policy
The add-on's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
7. Children's privacy
The add-on collects no personal information from any user, including children.
8. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page and the last-updated date will be revised.
